    Program Requirements

    * MA degree in a related field is preferable

    * One personal statement (written in either English or Spanish)

    * Curriculum vitae

    * Transcripts from all universities, both undergraduate and graduate

    * Three letters of recommendation from former professors

    * Writing sample (no more than 20 pages)

    Test Requirements

    The GRE is recommended but not required. TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) scores required for international applicants whose undergraduate education was completed in a non-English speaking country.

    Personal Statement Instructions
    Specify your past experience (studies, academic work, research projects, etc.), reasons for applying, and your area of interest. Include faculty member(s) you are interested in working with and why. Your personal statement can be written in either English or Spanish.

    The personal statement provides you with an opportunity to tell the admissions committee about your background, your reasons for wishing to pursue a graduate degree in statistics at Rutgers, and your career objectives upon graduation. It may also include a description of special situations you wish the admissions committee to consider.

    Applications for the Spring Semester will be considered, but seats are limited as many Fall foundation classes are not currently given in the Spring Semester. Most students will enter the program in the Fall semester.
    Applications for non-matriculated and non-degree attendance are also considered - the full application still needs to be completed but GRE/GMAT scores are not required.
    Test Requirements
    Personal statement, official transcripts, and three letters of recommendation. Also, valid GRE or GMAT scores for test taken within five years.

    Your personal statement should address (1) why you have chosen to pursue a career in quantitative finance and risk management - include any experiences in your background - work, study or life - that have made you want to pursue a career in this field, (2) why you have selected the FSRM program to gain professional credentials to support your career goals, (3) why you are an excellent and committed candidate for the program and, (4) what you propose to do after obtaining your FSRM degree.
